This week my new project is about digital storytelling. I have to create a short movie clip that includes my activity plan. I am making the movie clip over time and how it is incorporated in the world. My storyboard shows step by step what my movie clip will hold.
Before I could get started on the movie making, I had to learn about the 7 elements of digital storytelling that had to be included in my movie. The 7 elements include: point of view, a dramatic question, emotional content, the gift of my voice, the power of the soundtrack, economy, and pacing. After learning about these, it gave me a clearer understanding on how to create my movie and helped me to stay on the right track.
Now that I have a better understanding about the 7 elements, my movie will be precise. The point of view is 'time' in real life events. The dramatic questions is simple, 'how time is incorporated in the real world?'. The emotional content in my movie is where I have to say goodbye to a loved one for the last time. My voice is used throughout the movie clip. I will definitely use the power of soundtrack, maybe not through the whole clip but in some parts. I will include just enough information in my clip so it's not overbearing and I will keep a steady pace throughout the clip.
As I first read through this assignment, I was extremely stressed and overwhelmed. But since I've done more research on digital storytelling, I'm able to put myself at ease. As my kindergarten teacher always said, "practice makes perfect".
